How Can I Keep Costs Down During Divorce?

Posted on February 27, 2018 by Chris Kirker

One great way to keep costs down in any divorce case is to have all important information organized from the beginning. The more time you spend organizing your financial statements and property records, the easier it is for your attorneys to access the information they need for your case. This is an excellent way to reduce costs.

Keep in mind that conflict drives cost as well.  If you and your spouse are not able to come to an agreement after both sides have analyzed and exchanged information, your attorneys will need to spend more time trying to work out an appropriate arrangement.

Mediation is a great way to settle a divorce case and avoid the cost of trial. In some cases, it may even be appropriate for counsel to propose an Irrevocable Settlement Agreement, which does not require a mediator. If you have questions about which of these procedures is best for your case, call our office to schedule a consultation.
