“The Best Place to Learn How to Be an Attorney”

Pros
As a rising 3L, I’ve realized how rare truly likable jobs in the legal field are. I find that many of my law school friends do not enjoy their jobs, and I feel very lucky to have found this place. As a clerk, you will rarely ever be assigned “grunt work.” Almost immediately I found that I was receiving invaluable litigation experience. If you have desire to be a trial lawyer, this is the place to go. Not only will you get to help prepare for hearings, trials, and meditations– but you get to do so on truly fun, and for lack of a better word, juicy cases. The mentorship here is unmatched. The attorneys here are just as excited to employ you as you are to be employed. They are so willing to help at the drop of a hat, yet they do not micromanage. KD’s expectation that their clerks are capable and can work independently has bolstered my confidence and I feel much more prepared to be a practicing attorney now than before I started. But, I also feel secure knowing that if I ever needed help that a team of experienced and kind attorneys had my back. Kirker Davis has cultivated a wonderful culture and respect for work life balance. Many of the attorneys here are parents, and their responsibilities to their children are always supported and understood. Additionally, the office itself has fantastic vibes. It is clear that everyone is a team. The attorneys are youthful, are usually joking about something, and overall the morale is palpably high. Conclusively, KD is a great place to work, and since starting here I’ve been trying to sell all my friends on family law!

Cons
I really cannot think of anything. A certain level of flexibility will be expected of you, but not more so and arguably less than any other law firm.

on Past Kirker Davis Law Clerks:

Alex G.

” My time as a clerk at Kirker Davis was great. From my first day, I was involved in substantive work: I provided research and writing for a case about to go to trial, I explored interesting questions of law, and I had the opportunity to communicate directly with clients. The attorneys at Kirker Davis will help you get what you want out of your clerkship. If you want to attend trial, you can. If you want to work on a specific case, you can. I had the opportunity to do so much in my time at Kirker Davis and I learned more there than I would have anywhere else. I wouldn’t have changed a thing. “
