Should I move out during my divorce?

Posted on October 27, 2020 by Chris Kirker

You need to talk to an attorney before you move out of your house. A lot of people don’t want to live in the same space as the person they want to divorce. And we understand that. But before you move out, you need to speak to somebody about what happens when you move out. You accelerate what the agreements or disagreements are about who’s going to see the children when and who’s going to pay for what. If you have an agreement already with your spouse about who’s going to pay for the new apartment and what the possession schedule is going to be with your kids, then it’s a great idea to talk about it with your attorney. But please do not move out of the house before you speak with an attorney.
