Although different court appearances call for various methods of preparation, we can provide some general tips to consider for any appearance:
Keep in contact with your attorney, and be responsive to requests for preparation sessions. This is particularly important if you are scheduled for a hearing where you may need to give testimony to the court directly. Although no one can predict exactly what will happen during a hearing, you can work with your attorney to be sure you are ready to handle difficult questions and have a strategy in place.
It’s also a good idea to adjust your personal schedule to allow for extra time should you need to be in court longer than expected. Always dress appropriately and arrive early. Be respectful to the court staff and keep your composure no matter what happens when the Judge announces a ruling.
If you anticipate an upcoming court appearance and are looking for more information about how to prepare for a specific hearing, call our office to schedule an initial phone consultation with one of our attorneys.
