Celebrity divorces and breakups take 2016 by storm

2016 was a tough year for many Americans, and celebrities were no exception. Celebrity divorces and breakups were extremely common this year.

Actress Amber Heard, 30, and actor and producer Johnny Depp, 53,  finalized their divorce in August 2016. Their closure came a little more than a year after they married in 2015. Heard filed a divorce petition against Depp in May, along with a temporary restraining order.

Former NBA player Scottie Pippen, 51, filed for divorce from his wife, 42-year-old Larsa Younan, in October 2016. A representative for Younan released a statement saying, “Although they are no longer to be married, Larsa remains hopeful that she and Scottie will always do what is best for their four beautiful children and jointly raise them with love and respect.” In addition, actor and producer Tobey Maguire and jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer split as well. They added in a statement “As devoted parents, our first priority remains raising our children together with enduring love, respect, and friendship.”
